W Carpenter London

An attractive small wall clock, the 8” diameter convex iron dial signed 'W.Carpenter, London', in a mahogany octagonal drum case with restrained brass and ebony decoration, and a cast brass bezel.

The timepiece fusee movement with offset winding arbour has well shaped plates, faced by matching steel hands. There are a number of W Carpenters listed working in London; this is probably by William recorded working 1828 – 1844.
