A small wall timepiece, the 8” diameter dial signed ‘Payne & Co., 163 New Bond Street London’, the fusee movement with anchor escapement numbered  4650, in a mahogany case with cast brass bezel with spring lock.

William Payne is recorded working initially at 62 South Moulton Street in 1816, moving to this Bond Street address in 1850. The firm became William Payne & Co. in 1857 and continued there until 1881.
